This policy explains how Answiva ("the App", "we") processes data when a merchant installs the App on a Shopify store.

2. Data we process
- Store data: shop domain, the access token issued by Shopify, installed plan and usage counters.
- Product data: titles, descriptions, SEO fields, image alt texts, prices, variants and tags – read to calculate the AI Readiness Score and, when the merchant requests it, rewritten and saved back to the store.
- App settings: language, tone of voice, keywords and optional custom instructions.
- AI visibility checks: the buyer questions a merchant enters, the engine used, whether the product was mentioned, an excerpt of the answer and the domains cited.
- AI-referred visits: when the theme app embed is enabled, we count storefront visits that arrive from AI assistants (source such as "chatgpt" and the page path). We do not store IP addresses, cookies, names or any other information about shoppers.
The App does not access or store personal data of the merchant's customers (no orders, no customer records).
3. Purposes and legal basis
We process this data solely to provide the App's features to the merchant (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR – performance of a contract) and to secure and operate the service (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest).
4. Sub-processors
- Shopify Inc. / Shopify International Ltd. – platform, authentication and billing.
- Railway Corp. (USA) – application hosting and database.
- Anthropic PBC (USA) – generates optimized product content and answers visibility checks (Claude).
Only the product information required for a request is sent to Anthropic. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework, as offered by the provider.
5. Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the App is installed. When the App is uninstalled, the access token is deleted immediately. All remaining store data is deleted when Shopify sends the shop/redact request (48 hours after uninstall). Optimized descriptions that were published to the store remain in the store, as they belong to the merchant.
6. Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase and restrict processing of your data, to data portability and to object (Art. 15–21 GDPR), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us at brativahelp@gmail.com.
7. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always available at this address.
